Babe, the Gallant Pig // The Sheep-Pig — Dick King-Smith

When Babe, the piglet, arrives at Farmer Hogget's farm he doesn't know that Mrs. Hogget has him in mind for a bacon breakfast and a pork chop dinner. Luckily, the Hoggets soon see that Babe is no ordinary pig.

Right from the start Babe and Fly, the wise old sheepdog, become friends and Fly teaches Babe about sheepherding. Babe is a fast learner and hopes to become a sheep-pig someday! It's not long before Babe proves his worth when he saves the herd from rustlers.

But not everyone is convinced that a pig can do the job of a sheepdog. Farmer Hogget is sure of Babe when he enters him in the Grand Challenge Sheepdog TriaIs. But will it take a miracle for this sheep-pig to win?
