David Hunter grows up and finds his first love in tranquil 'Fifties Northern Ireland. High ideals lead him to the London School of Economics, but then despair drives him to the Foreign Legion and he sees action in the Suez invasion. When injury sends him back to London friends help him to find new hope for the future and a better understanding of his past.
