From The Author    I think, like many suspense authors, I write about the things that scare  me  most.  When you read my first novel, SAVAGE ART, due out in August,   2000,  you may be surprised to hear that I left in the middle of THE SILENCE OF  THE  LAMBS and barely made it through THE SHINING.  Some people ask if I   would be  able to sit through one of my own books as a movie and the truthful   answer  is maybe not.  My hope is that the real fear with which I feel the  situations in my writing will make my characters, their actions and  reactions, all the more real for the reader.    SAVAGE ART is the result of two years of intensive research and writing.  The result, I hope, is a gritty suspense novel about ex-FBI profiler,   Casey  McKinley, who was brutally attacked by the killer she was profiling.    Out in  California, Casey thinks she's left the job far behind...until San   Francisco  Inspector Jordan Gray comes to her with a series of killings that are   eerily  familiar.  My second novel, FAMILIAR STRANGER, is due out July, 2001.    And  I'm already hard at work on the next one.
