Peppermint — Cassie Rita Austin

Peppermint has red stripes and none of the zebras at Drakensberg Elementary School want to be her friend. They are afraid because she is different. The black-striped zebras taunt and tease Peppermint and never allow her to play with them. Peppermint becomes lonely and extremely sad until one day she meets a very unlikely friend, Thaddeus the lion, who helps her change the hearts and minds of her schoolmates.
