Sam Green doesn't just like baseball...he loves it. Especially the Brooklyn Dodgers and Jackie Robinson. There isn't a single Dodger stat Sam doesn't know, or game he can't recite, play by play, from memory. Baseball is his life.

The only other person as baseball-crazy as Sam is the old cook who works for his mother. Davy and Sam couldn't be more different, but they have one huge thing in common: the Dodgers. Together they root for their team at the ball park and listen to games on Sam's radio.

Sam expects Davy to be his friend forever, not get really sick like he does. But Sam thinks he has a plan to help make Davy better. And if there were ever a time Sam had to count on Jackie Robinson and the Dodgers...it's now.
