Wealth, freedom, and power... or perhaps the hangman's noose.

1672. The Caribbean. Diego Cargrave is a merchant sailor restless with his lot in life. When his ship is captured by pirates under Jack Hughe, a bloody-handed buccaneer who sailed with Morgan himself, they offer the survivors a choice - go in a small boat, back to the lives they'd known, or join them.

The others take the boat, but Cargrave smiles, and sails under the black flag.
