Description
Had he been led into finding the document? I could just return the scrap and no one would be the wiser. To lay forgotten again. To collect dust. But such an act went against his very nature. And some day no doubt someone would find it again. And what then? One can delay the inevitable for only so long. And of course he could destroy the parchment. It was so old, brittle beyond compare. No one need ever know. There would be no one who could ever mark its passage. Except for him. But why destroy the parchment if it's tale was but a fiction? His faith was stronger than that. So he would keep the scrap he suddenly decided. And he would keep its message a secret. For the time being at least. I will return the piece of parchment he decided; but I will return it only after I prove its tale as nothing more than some baseless fantasy. One well remembered day. So long ago. Jesus died on a cross made of wood. Didn't He? Apocrypha. Alan Baggett
