Description
Eighth grade ended when the mythic stream shifted its subterranean path and pooled beneath Bishop Hall. The building moaned during my History class and the Diamond Head side sank six feet. Fire alarms sounded and everyone evacuated. We all congregated on middle field. Bishop Hall's roof slanted at a thirty-degree angle and, after ten minutes, the building groaned. Dr. Seville ordered everyone back. Teachers, students, and administrators retreated as the Diamond Head side sank another six feet.
“Abandon ship,” I said and got a few laughs.
“There goes the Titanic,” a boy called out.
