      About This Book

      Jim has never seen his father. He and David search during vacation for Arne Rasmussen, the man his mother says is the father. Their search leads them to a to Santa Barbara and here David finds a man who had rented a building to a law firm, Stearnes and Rasmussen. David interviews Stearnes and makes him reveal that Arne Rasmussen is in a nursing home. They visit the nursing home, and the old man, hardly alive, tells Jim that he is his father. He says that Stearnes 'knows'. David manages to get the truth from Stearnes, that Arne acknowledged in writing that Jim is his son and has willed some property to him. Jim now knows he is real, and that he had a father, a skilled lawyer.
