      Utrup's Fireside Mysteries is a book of two short stories. The first story, "Tin Devil," takes place in the back regions of the mountains, known to the mountaineers as "The Pockets." A reporter is sent on assignment to find the reason for the disappearance of several campers who had journeyed there. What he finds in his search is far more than just a newspaper story. In "Lose Her," the mystery is a light-hearted story of a man who mysteriously loses his world one morning, and while trying to lose a love-crazed stalker, finds the answer to getting his perfect world back.
