About This Book

Tobacco Town is a collection of twelve short stories, set in the south, depicting the various traumatic experiences of our unlikely hero, Ryerson Goode. It is a series of related episodes describing life in the town of Winston-Salem, when it was known all over the world as the producerof America's best-selling cigarettes: Camels, Salems and Winstons. Those days ended shortly after World War II and our hope is that this reminiscence will keep alive the memory of those days for those who did not live through them and for those still alive who did. The book is written in fictional form, but, as Mark Twain might have said, it is mostly true.
