In the forty-fifth century of the common era, the Kiroho people live deep below the surface of the earth. One night, an outlawed tribe invades the sleeping settlement. During the raid, the leader of the Kiroho is murdered, and his son, Prasanga, witnesses his death. At the same time, disease threatens the existence of the underground civilization. If the people are to survive, they need to return to a mythical surface world from which their ancestors fled two thousand years earlier.
