      Pete McCauley, retired Army officer and sometime CIA operative, is assigned to accompany Leslie Raye, gadfly of the free-the-hostages movement, on a clandestine mission to Beirut at the height of the hostage havoc of the 1980s. Her job is to accept the release of kidnapped American journalist Christopher Leonard, long held captive by Muslim terrorists.
