About This Book

The Riddle of the Wilderness

The anticipated sequel to Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart.

Okwute is definitely coming.
And so is a saga...
When the virgin from Mbaino overhears something, events take an unexpected turn.

In a whisper meant for someone else on a chilly Hamattan morning, a mysterious person accidentally divulges to her through a crack in the compound wall that Ikemefuna is going to die. Traumatised, she goes into labour prematurely and Okwute comes through a very difficult birth that claims the life of his mother, who was already exerted before the labour. To prevent further tragedies befalling the same man, Okwute is prised out of his father's hands and taken somewhere where everyone hopes he'll survive.

The Riddle of the Wilderness is the story of Okwute's lost childhood and the uncanny ways in which lost childhoods travel down a lineage, affecting both men and women in different ways.
