Facing financial disaster, the Richards Arabian horses must be liquidated, including Firecracker, their most promising young stallion. Even though it's not something either one of them wants, the decision creates a division between owner Clyde Richards and his son, Joe.
The Richards' luck changes when the syndicate that purchased Firecracker files for bankruptcy, allowing Clyde to reclaim the horse in an effort to mend his relationship with Joe. Tragically, Firecracker has been maliciously treated and has to be euthanized, but not before the family veterinarian, Doctor Cindi Arders, secures the Richards' future in the Arabian industry through modern science, bringing father and son together once again.
For as long as he can remember, Joe has been looking forward to competing in the hundred-mile Tevis Cup race…but can he find a horse that measures up to Firecracker?
