About This Book

A captivating story, touching and sentimental. It tells about Liesel, a German farm girl who sings in a church choir that was selected to compete in the National Singing competition in Bremen, and Akos, a talented Gypsy violinist who traveled from Hungary to Germany to attend the wedding of his cousin Victor. Liesel and Akos fall in love, and are secretly married, Gypsy style. Unfortunately, tragedy occurs on their wedding night resulting in each thinking the other is lost forever.

Life continues and they follow very different paths. In America, Liesel discovers she is pregnant, and gives birth to Akos’s son, who she names Sandy. Akos and his younger sister Talle were adopted and brought to America by Matthew Schulman, an American doctor who gave up his practice in Bremen, Germany.

Seventeen years later Liesel, who now lives on Long Island, New York, reflects on the events of the past. At the same time, Dr. Schulman, returning from a medical seminar to his home in Boston, Massachusetts, is also reminiscing. Neither is aware of the other's circumstances or whereabouts.

A series of unexpected events and surprises takes place in their continuing journey through life.
