      Book three finds Bill Bentley riding into Escondido, California via a track on Arthur Franks. There, he adopts a young sidekick to assist him on his hunt and meets the lovely Johnny Perez during a dinner at the big ranch house. Betrayed by the sexually repressed and resentful Johnny and a jealous ex-partner, Bill confronts them both resulting in a violent showdown.
