Small-time reporter Bernie "Romeo" Ruane has returned to his home town on the Jersey shore to look for Maureen. A woman he loved, but not enough. A woman who disappeared ten years ago. Darby's back too, his volatile niece who's now a local cop. She left town a little after Romeo did, right after her father, Romeo's brother, bludgeoned her mother to death in their grimy kitchen one hot summer night.With the Ruanes back in town, things get complicated.
