When physicist Michael Eriksson returns from his OSS mission in Nazi occupied Norway, he joins the Manhattan Projects frantic effort to beat the Germans in the race to develop an atomic bomb. At Los Alamos hes on another secret mission. But the hunter becomes the hunted. Nazi, Klaus Kriegmann, has successfully infiltrated Los Alamos. Hes determined to sabotage the test of Americas first atomic bomb and he has sworn to make Eriksson die a slow and painful death.

Eriksson and his lover Kathleen OConnell, are trapped near the shot tower. The countdown is in progress and time is running out. A blinding flash lights up the night. A giant, angry, boiling, red hemisphere erupts on the horizon, sending a powerful shock wave racing across the desert floor. Eriksson knows theres only one chance for them to survive.
