About This Book

The caterpillars have isolated themselves from the rest of the forest. Industrious and technologically advanced, they built a Silk Palace to protect themselves from the outside world. Eventually they forget that they are as much a part of the forest as the forest is a part of them. Living artificial lives, they soon forget how to become real butterflies. Instead of becoming real butterflies, they work all their lives in repetitious jobs, collecting ‘glitter' to buy a butterfly suit upon retirement. But one caterpillar doesn't want to work a meaningless job, or save glitter, or buy a butterfly suit. She wants to use her time to become something real. This, then, is the story of a brave little caterpillar who leaves the Silk Palace and braves the perils of the forest to become a real butterfly.
