A young, ambitious, and foolish Paula Lauren moves to Hawaii to start a new life. To advance her writing career, as an author of romantic fiction, Paula is constantly in search of the perfect alpha-male hero. She attempts to try-out her newly invented fictional hero by venturing into cyberspace, as a man named Toby. Sidney Tamashiro has a serious Internet addiction problem. She's trying to juggle half a dozen relationships with men she's never met, including her favorite by far: Toby. What both women don't realize -- until too late -- is that one of the men in Sidney's collection is jealous, possessive, Internet-savvy, and lethal. As each of her other "lovers" are killed off one by one, Sidney doesn't realize they're no longer living... because their e-mails continue. Both women are drawn into a Web of danger as they grow closer to each other and to The Lover Virus that threatens their real lives.
