Teen Mums R Us is about the story of 14 years old Ivy, who was bullied in her school (secondary). Ivy was a simple and naïve teenage girl, who used to always be happy and bubbly before she began attending her new school. Going to secondary school was a dream come true for Ivy who had always been green with envy of her older sister, Shell, always thinking that her parents loved Shell more because she was a secondary school student. But Ivy s dreams of becoming a popular girl in school quickly ruined as the other girls started picking on her, simply because she was fat. And this led to Ivy suffering depression and self-loathing. She wouldn t tell anyone because her first attempt of trying to report the matter only resulted in her parents distrusting her, so she started searching for some kind of way to deal with by herself instead. It all came to a head when she couldn t handle the teasing anymore and decided to approach Mr. Dixie, her English teacher who she thought was going to help her deal with her perpetrators. Unfortunately that wasn t to, Mr. Dixie took Ivy to his flat, spiked her drink and raped her and the next she knew, she was pregnant, making her a double victim in the process. Now a new chapter opens up in Ivy s life as she soon realised that her problems were only just beginning as she also had to face the wraths of her parents at home, who began to hassle her on whether to get rid of the pregnancy or not. This book tackles some of the main issues with teenagers in our society today, Bullying, Unprotected Sex, and sometimes Racism.
