Civil lawyer John Hartford is hired to defend Jonathan Storm, who is charged with the murder of his step-mother. The facts that come to light during the trial reveal that Johnathan's step-mother was sexually and emotionally abusive to her step-son. To make matters even more complicated, it is discovered that Mrs. Storm apparently suffered from Multiple Personality Disorder. One personality was a loving mother, while the other personality sexually abused her step-son.
