About This Book

Cat Madoc leaves Alexandria, Virginia, returning to her family home on the jutting headlands of California's Mendocino Coast. Her journey homeward will force Cat to deal with the brutal aftermath of her sister Jennifer's suicide. After laying her sister to rest, and rentng the family home, Cat will try to go on with her own life.

When a friend asks Derek Driscoll to keep an eye on Cat Medoc, the sister of his dead neighbor, Derek reluctantly agrees. After all, being a modern women, Cat probably doesn't want or need a babysitter. But he also knows that Cat's last living relative is dead, that the loneliness he sees in her eyes mirrors his own. And he strongly suspects that Jennifer's death may not have been a suicide at all. Those suspicions are confirmed when there are threats on Cat's life; he is determined that nothing will deter him from protecting the young woman who has touched his heart.

Derek Driscoll's brooding dark looks stir Cat's pent-up desiresâ€"and she is grateful for his strength and protection when there are attempts on her life. Cat, however, doubts his motives when she discovers that Derek was Jennifer's former loverâ€"and is now considered to be the number one suspect in her death. Can Cat trust Derek with her heart if she fears for her very life at his hands?
