Detective Lucas Brasch of the St Petersburg (Florida) Police Department returns from an almost fatal on-the-job injury, and is assigned a seemingly simple case involving an unidentified injured teenage girl. He expected the investigation to be routine. In a chance meeting with a long time friend, the glamorous and successful child psychologist, Dr. Lacey Hirsch, PHD, he realizes her help could be monumental. Their investigation uncovers nine unsolved murders of teenage girls spread over the three counties surrounding Tampa Bay, but with very few useful clues. Clever criminals developed an ingenious plan to evade identification and capture. With the help of detectives from the other two jurisdictions they unravel a puzzle that had gone unnoticed for five years. All through the investigation, Luke and Lacey try to rekindle their high school romance, but the case keeps getting in the way. In the end crimes are solved and justice is served, but can love prevail?
