Gabriel Blackstone is a hacker, information thief, and skilled "remote viewer." He makes an excellent living stealing other people's secrets. When a former lover asks him to look into the disappearance of her stepson, the investigation leads Gabriel to Monk House, a rambling Victorian home where time seems to stand still. The house mesmerizes him, as do its owners, the beautiful, enigmatic Monk sisters. He soon learns that the sisters are solar witches, obsessed with alchemy and the lost Art of Memory, a practice invented by the ancient Greeks.

Urged on by an uneasy suspicion that one of the sisters is a killer, Gabriel sets out to determine which, but he is soon led on a deadly chase within the unending maze of their intellectual games. As Gabriel becomes entangled in the case, he's drawn deeply into their seductive world...losing hold of reality even as he falls into mortal danger.
