      Sam Rampart arrives at the family ranch, accompanied by his horse, his dog, and his cat, all of whom he has named Sam. There he finds the local banker utilizing threats, killings, and outright thievery in an attempt to gain control of the ranches and the Town of Pleasant. In working to prevent this from occurring, Sam must overcome several hired gunmen and the machinations of the banker. When gunmen try to kill the daughter of the one of the larger ranch owners, she winds up unconscious and wounded on Sam’s hands. He saves her life and embarks on a convoluted plan using the special talents of two friends to upset the banker’s strategy. Organizing the local ranchers, he devises methods to thwart the banker and his band of killers.
