Sammy’s Carol is about an African-American man named Samuel M. Wade, Jr. who shares his story of how Christmas became a special “anniversary†where he learned important lessons regarding manhood, dignity and pride. As a teenager he was conflicted about his use of the N-word and how it affected his relationship with his peers, but through the guidance of a few caring “visitors†on a snowy Christmas Eve in 1997, Samuel was challenged to re-examine his life in order to gain a new perspective on what it means to be young, gifted and black.
