About This Book

A Child’s Prayer to Die is about a boy named Richard, a very caring, loving child who wishes and begs to be taken out of a home that is detrimental to his life, even if it means that he must die. He must struggle to cope in a life of poverty where he is faced with degradation, humiliation, and danger from many sources of his immediate family. His brother Randall is the only trusted member of his large family, and together they are ostracized from the happiness that the siblings share. The two form a pact that would last throughout their growing years through acts of rebellion against parents that scorned them from the moment of birth. At a young age the youngest of the four boys found necessary means of making an income, only to have it taken away by his parents in order to pay for rent. This made the child feel like he had to pay his way through a life that he prayed to get away from. The rent payments to his parents were just another means of taking away his self-worth. Together with his closest brother they fought together to live through a life of hopelessness until one day when they would choose to break away.
