About This Book

Motherless Children and other stories explores the problems, trials and triumphs of persons who are forced by the circumstances of their lives to be other than that which they would like to be. Some have triumphed and emerged from their difficulties as stronger, better people. On the other hand, an unhappy few go through life experiencing heartbreak and carrying burdens to the very end. The book consists of twelve stories. Although fictional, they are all written from the author's observation of events and situations which affect people and, by extension, the entire fabric of the society in which they live. The stories are about children and young persons throughout the entire Caribbean and perhaps further afield. They are, for the most part, written in Standard English, however, Dominican dialect is used in conversation. The dialect is simple and easy to understand. Although mostly about young people, the stories are relevant to readers of all ages anywhere.
