Since the sudden, grisly death of her spouse six months before, Christian policewoman Carmen Gonzalez has been obsessed with thoughts of her own untimely, gruesome end: getting knifed by thugs in a desolate alley; being jolted awake by the murderous blows of an intruder's ax or by a thousand-degree conflagration from which there is no escape; getting mutilated and mangled in a ghastly car crash, like her beloved husband.
