Billy Friedman is an ostracized twelve-year-oldâ€"the punching bag of his school. Suffering many indignities by a bully named Rick Petry, Billy Friedman has slowly given up on life, as his self-confidence is whittled away to nothing. Dan Hartman is a serial killer on the lam. Having randomly butchered eleven citizens in the Pennsylvania suburb of Hampton Hills, Dan escapes, leaving further carnage in his wake, as he flees southward to the neighboring state of Maryland.
