While the rest of Grieving Souls enjoy their time in Yggdra, Krai heads home early in hopes of getting some rest. What he finds instead is a number of well-meaning people who want him promoted to Level 9. Strangely, though the advancement exam is usually done solo, he gets teamed up with two other promotion candidates. The assignment isn't just a difficult quest: it's practically a suicide mission, one for which the Explorers' Association is desperate for a solution. With little say in the matter, Krai is whisked to a mysterious city of which he has no prior knowledge, with only a few Relics and the most unlikely of allies.
