When an elderly widow suddenly dies, it is first believed that it was from a heart attack. Upon further examination, it is discovered that she was poisoned. While searching for her next of kin, Sergeant Kane is contacted by a Microbiologist in New York City. After a brief conversation, she believes that Martha was poisoned, the same as her husband. She decides to go to Silver Creek, not only to handle Martha's affairs but to find out what took the life of her friends. Soon after she arrives in Silver Creek, her life takes a new direction. She came here on business, not to fall in love. Almost losing what has become the most important thing in her life, she discovers the secrete hidden within Kitty for almost a year and a will that Martha left, leaving an impact on Silver Creek that no one would ever forget.
