For a young, scarred Civil War veteran, there is a mystery that lies behind a sacred promise.

T.S. is determined to keep a deathbed promise. As he makes his way through the untamed Colorado Territory to the home of his late friend Tommy McGuire, he finds Tommy's mother and beautiful redheaded sister, Bonnie, alone and surviving the best they can. It seems all the McGuire men have disappeared - victims of cattle rustlers or Indians, but no one really knows for sure.

When T.S. learns of a map drawn by Tommy's uncle that details Indian cave drawings and a route that leads through the mountains, he decides to go alone in search of the missing McGuires.
