About This Book

A powerful saga of an Asian family in Andaka, Africa, told through the life of Yuri Reka. At the height of the struggle for independence from Britain, Yuri is a young, idealistic student, blinded by the notion of a free Andaka. With African rule, however, the country changes for the worse. Drunk with power, the government becomes repressive and corrupt. Africanization policies force an exodus of Asians and Europeans. A rebel movement emerges, sworn to overthrow the government. Guerilla attacks and assassinations aimed at destabilization become frequent and are met with even more brutal repression. Now a young businessman - frustrated, disillusioned and angry, Yuri is recruited to join the rebels. He enlists for a critical mission, which if successful, would deal a severe blow to the government. Overnight, he is plunged into a dark world of terror and violence. He becomes a killer, numb to the finality of death. Once the hunted, he is now the hunter, committed to the rebel movement. But the President of Andaka has an informant buried deep within the command structure of the rebel leadership...
