Down Girl and Sit, the lovable duo from three earlier books, like chasing squirrels and don't like being fenced in. When their owners take them to a country ranch, however, Git Along, their new doggy pal, warns them about life on the other side of a fence. But Down Girl and Sit can't resist discovering the dangers of the Wild West for themselves. As they run free on the prairie, they meet barking squirrels (prairie dogs), ugly dogs (coyotes), a gasoline-powered bull (truck), and are almost trampled by a stampede before heading back to the safety of their old neighborhood.
