      Hand Shadow Stories, originally published circa 1863, imagines a mother reading Henry Bursill's 1861 book Hand Shadows to Be Thrown Upon the Wall to her four children, and improvising little stories to accompany each shadow figure. The very inventive Mrs. Freeman captures her listeners attention with stories about Longbeard the Goat, Beauty the Greyhound, and Piggy the Pet, among others. Eight different hand shadows are included, all but one first appearing in the earlier title.
