About This Book

Gear Up relives the memories of a former B-17 pilot, Glenn Cohn that flew bombing missions during WWII over Germany. The son of a crop dust pilot, Glenn knew at an early age that he wanted to follow his father and become a pilot. When WWII broke out he immediately enlisted in the Army Cadet Corps. He was accepted, shipped off to basic training, and then on to flight school. At completion of his training he was promoted to Lieutenant, received his 'wings', and then sent to England. He received 'mission' training and then experienced his first live mission over Germany. The story relives actual bombing raids, reveals the horror of ack ack, and deals with the relentless attacks by German Messerschmitt 105s. It tells of the V2 and bombing raids endured by the British. The incidents revealed in this book are based on actual accounts recalled by Glenn Cohn during his many B-17 raids he flew during WWII.
