Freedom Song brings a fresh look at the challenges teenagers’ face in the twenty-first century. Life for today’s teens is a combination of total media blitz with choices regarding their bodies, music, school, and first love. Sharon Davis has three best friends forever and she has ten brothers and sisters. Finding time to fit in helping with her siblings, training for the sports she loves, her best friends and her rocker boyfriend, Bryan McCord of the boy band Millennium leaves little time for herself. Sharon has to make choices regarding which goals mean the most to her. Her parents, friends, and boyfriend offer encouragement and help to make the decision to pursue a life-long dream. Along the way she finds love, a new favorite song and the courage to meet all the new challenges Freedom Song is a stand-alone book, but also a part of a series about the friends. Each book in the Hayley’s Journey series tells the story of one of the girls. Sharon’s story is a two-part story. The next book, The Dreaming Tree will finish this part of her life story.
