After 24 years in the U.S. Marines, Jim Ogden returns home to an empty house in Hampton, Michigan. A note from his missing brother Will stating “Follow Me” starts him on a dangerous journey in his brother’s footsteps to Big Bay, Michigan, to bring justice to a man named Charles Slocum who had murdered their grandfather. Slocum is dead, but his son Bret, suspected of drug running, blocks his path and his repeated attempts to kill Ogden test every skill from Ogden’s Marine training. In a twist of fate, Ogden has a relationship with Faye Slocum, Charles Slocum’s daughter. His search for his brother finally takes him to Sault Ste. Marie, where Slocum is believed to be bringing in his drug shipments. The last desperate encounter with Bret Slocum takes place in the Lumberjack Tavern in Big Bay, made famous by a long-ago shooting related in the book Anatomy of a Murder.
