Inspired by her father's New England flower gardens the author cleverly weaves the themes of diversity, bullying and conflict resolution to address social justice issues of today, using fun floral characters! The wildflowers live peacefully in their field. They are challenged by the arrival of the Beauties, cultivated roses, purchased for entry in the annual neighborhood flower show. The Beauties feel superior to the wildflowers because they look alike. They do not understand why the wildflowers are different. When the Beauties face a dilemma, the wildflowers help solve the problem and in the process, help the Beauties appreciate differences.
