About This Book

A true story of love and survival, this bookprofiles the lives of a couple¿whounwittingly become involved in a most unusual experience. Life was idyllic on the island paradise known asRoatan, located some 35 miles off the North Coast of Honduras, in the Western Caribbean Sea. Two unsuspecting people are¿hoodwinked into allowing a rascal cat into their lives and hearts where he soon becomes master of the house. A brainstorm of an idea brings four very young kittens, (otherwise condemned to certain death), onto the scene to complicate a once simple existence. Nature subsequently challenges the very lives of all the people on the island as Hurricane Mitch, a category 5 storm, hovers offshore for five days, with sustained winds of 140 miles per hour, creating thirty foot seas and torrential rains. It quickly became a life threatening situation. The 'Storm of the Century' devastates the Bay Islands of Honduras and then crosses the entire Central American isthmustwice, leaving massive death and destruction behind before exiting through Guatemala¿and the Gulf of Mexico. The aftermath of this disaster is as frightening as the storm, but fate plays a friendly role in this frightening survival.
