Heartland is a horse farm nestled in the hills of Virginia, but it's much more than that. Heartland is a place like no other — a place where the scars of the past can be healed, a place where frightened and abused horses learn to trust again.

With Ty in the hospital, Amy is struggling to keep up with the chores and stay positive. Then a new horse arrives — a wild mustang. He has a beautiful, independent spirit. Amy has always had a sense of how to approach strong-willed horses. But this one is different. He isn't angry or misunderstood. He is proud. When Amy watches him gaze into the distance, she wonders f he was meant to be free. And when he defies Amy's attempts to reach out to him, she starts to doubt everything — including herself.
