About This Book

In the near future, mankind will leap boldly amongst the stars. As in all our endeavors as a race, we will start small. One mission will push the limits of man’s knowledge, ingenuity and courage. That mission has come. Earth 2 is the story of Lieutenant Colonel Jack Grant, Lieutenant Frank Tiko, and Doctor Janet Mathis and their mission: to take a space shuttle fitted with Doctor Mathis’ new engine and claim our place in the universe. Their shuttle, the USS Odysseus, carries the new faster-than-light drive, an engine that will take interplanetary exploration out of the domain of science fiction and into our everyday lives. The launch is a go. The crew is ready. The word is given. “All systems are go for faster than light drive test.” The button is depressed. Something goes wrong. The three travelers awake to find themselves floating through space with only minor damage and a few bumps and bruises. There before them, floating silently in the blackness of space, is Earth. At first they’re overjoyed to have survived such an ordeal and end up back home. But something is different. They soon discover that they are not floating gently towards Earth. At least not the Earth they know as home.
