Destiny River

The novella Destiny River is based on an incident told to me by a former Navy Seal that served in the Vietnam War. The story begins with a group of Rangers that had completed their mission behind enemy lines trudging their way through the jungle back to a pick up point. They halted for a break along a hillside. One man requested to go down to the river and wash up. A simple request but an act that triggered a nightmarish existence that haunted the man for the rest of his life. It showed for those that return from war the need to be able to forget and readapt. But not all that returned had this capability. Maybe it was because those that wait at home don't realize that the cruel, barbaric experiences of war change those that serve.
