Chicago... The Day After Tomorrow... Martin Boyle is a cop with the Chicago PD's Online Intelligence Division, where he works the dark, seamy side of the Global Data Web. Boyle's is working the kind of case he relished: bring down a gang dealing in virtual reality child pornography. Everything goes by the numbers until, without explanation, Boyle is ordered to drop the case. Never one to play by the rules, Boyle begins his own investigation, taking him from the darkest corners of dataspace, where information is currency and true identities are taboo, to the gleaming offices of the rich and powerful, where the elites think they're untouchable.
