About This Book

One Friday night in mid-January, an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) struck the United States, knocking out the nation's electrical grid and thrusting the country into cold darkness. The streets and highways are littered with stalled vehicles and confused occupants.

Communications, electricity, banking,  running water, sanitation services, and food deliveries are things of the past.

People are stunned and desperate. They don't understand what has happened. Many are stranded on the highways. Others stay in their homes for as long as they can, waiting for help that never comes. Finally, they start walking. Most have no destination, while others try to reach their loved ones hundreds of miles away.

The characters are everyday people with ordinary lives. This is a story of survival, love, death, and hope.

This novel is based primarily in north Louisiana and in a small community in northwest Arkansas.
