       James Pierce, Bob Lee and Jack Black personify all three of these kinds of love. Being thrown together in the Korean War when the Chinese overran the American troops in the winter of 1950 they find a love and friendship that will last them the rest of their lives.
 The friendship is cemented well recouping from their wounds in Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco. James Pierce girlfriend dumps him and his friend Bob Lee and Jack Black explains the facts of life to a young private Pierce. Bob Lee explains women are like buses if you were kicked off of one wait a while another one will come along. Nurse Nancy shows Jim peers how to get a woman innkeeper. This knowledge is well and good until Mr. Pierce meets Peggy Winslow and learns about the true love and family love. Bob Lee who is a African American can't seem to keep out of trouble due to the fact most women who love him are white.
     The men are discharged from the Army into a civilian life of what some people call the Golden age of the 20th century the 1950s television was in its infancy, the automobile industry finally moved into the modern age. Playboy and the sexual revolution was beginning, it was a beginning of rock 'n roll music. San Francisco had some of the neatest restaurants and clubs in the world was call the Paris of the west. With this backdrop a story revolves around these men about love violence and discrimination, the automobile industry, and a deep-rooted relationship.
