Born in the Ashes

On the morning of September 11, 2001, cousins Emilia and Fiona meet for breakfast. The two young women resemble each other and are as close as sisters. After breakfast, Fiona meets her husband in his office at the World Trade Center, and both are killed when the towers collapse. Emilia, trapped in an unhappy marriage to a low-level mafioso, seizes this opportunity to change her life. She hops a bus to a small town in Maine and assumes Fiona’s identity. There, she finds work as a housekeeper for the Shane family, who treat her as one of their own. Despite her best intentions, she becomes involved with their son, Ethan, a federal prosecutor in New York. Their relationship and Emilia’s life are threatened when her Mafia husband finally tracks her down.
